I was just watching some news on the military channel, and some of Camp Pendleton is burning. Does anyone who keeps up on this stuff have any more updates or good articles? I just saw this. Anyone know if MCRD San Diego is good?

All I know is the one that had burnt 22,000 acres was caused by arson.

West of you. South to most of California. But it does kind of sound like the southern stats I am referring too.

That is intense, parts of Pendleton are burning, but I am fairly sure that it is just wilderness, not structures and stuff that is burnt.

hey guys/gals. i live donw here..most of the fires were not ARSON. power lines went down b/c of strong winds from the Santa Anas. But there are evacs. everywhere and some deaths but not many. i dont have any articles but my girlfriend was on the mandatory evac. list and it scared the hell out of me. i believe the containment % on teh fire is 10-15%. thats what it was last night. but it's starting to calm down and people are being released back to their homes. also if you want to help out. Goodwill is accepting donations towards the families that need it. I dont know if you have Goodwill near you but it's always appreciated.
All in all, we are holding our own and now with the morning mist/winds coming in, hopefully we will get a containment % larger than 15%. Thanks for everyones concern for us down here.

Stay wet dragon! My brother is in Santa Barbera(sp??), and he says the air is pretty smoky and nasty.
And thanks for the info on goodwill, when I ship off I will have something to do with my old civilian clothes.

Well I'm further south of the fire. If it reaches me then all of San Diego is doomed! I mean my house in right smack in the middle of SD. Anyway, I don't have problems with the air. Sure there is smoke and ash a little bit but not enough to scare me into wearing those ridiculous looking masks! I swear when I see those, I think of this:

There's still room for humor for me in this time of crisis!

It's still beautiful. Now there's just a few less trees and some houses to block the view!
