Left4Dead release is coming up... and there is a demo too!


Early access to the demo begins Thursday, November 6 on both the Xbox 360 and the PC. The demo will feature single player and co-operative modes, supporting 1 to 4 player games.

On November 11 the demo will be made available to all Xbox 360 and PC gamers, with no obligation to purchase. The demo concludes on November 18, when Left 4 Dead will be made available at retail outlets across North America and worldwide via Steam.

I can't stand the fact that I put this on my Xmas list and have to wait over a month to play it. I will be on the demo like flies on dog doo, so I might change my mind and buy it anyhow.

I want it badly, but the 4 player limit really means it will not be the typical Lair game at all. I also removed Fallout 3 from my Xmas list after reading about the Securom fiasco.

And to top that off, I just got a free copy of Far Cry 2 !! With Securom !! Anyone wanna trade me for Left 4 Dead ?

I think it means that you can DL it now and be able to play it when the time comes up.

Duke is correct. It will load up to 99% and then be available the moment that the L4D demo is available. I'm hosting a LAN party next weekend so this is the way to go for me. Official demo release is November 12, so depending on how the demo goes, I may just pre-order and get it off Steam.

DEM is out indeed !!! Checking out screenshots now. Most first impressions are VERY positive. It is a very short demo, but it looks like a great game.

2) Servers with passwords dont ask for them until everyone has "loaded" or connected to the server :pissed:
3) Finding the server separately from the lobby doesn't guarantee that all people can connect to that server even though they could connect to the lobby, so even if YOU get into the game, it doesn't mean the other three will. :(

You know most of the new games were flops. Crysis, Fallout, and Far Cry could have been so much better. CoD4 might hold the Best Game award for a lot longer than I thought.

Rand, I agree on Fallout 3, but its in desperate need of a patch so far. I am waffling on that game for some reason. I'm just tired of Securom games, and it just adds to the misery of trying to enjoy a game you rightfully own.

GTA 4 is a great game and will no doubt win for PS 3, and be a strong contender overall. I love the game, but there are differences that put Fallout 3 on top to me. Here's just a few:

1. While both have gigantic worlds, Fallout's interiors are more interesting to me to explore (both have fantastic exteriors).

2. Fallout 3 provides a wealth of morality choices. You can be as good or as evil as you want to be. You're pretty much forced into the grey areas in GTA 4, with only a handful of times where you can choose to kill a major player or not.

3. Moriarty and Three Dog aren't calling me up on the celly every bloody 20 minutes, when I'm in the middle of clearing out a Raider or Super Mutant base, to ask me to go bowling or play pool. They don't get upset at me when I refuse.

The FPS market this year has sucked wind except for that one and Far Cry 2 (which I won't have until Xmas probably), but the Year of the Shooter was last year. We're just in The Year of Quality now.

i think the matchmaking option its good. they have this on company of heroes and it works well. i mean this is what they were referring to play with friends in l4d, being able to create your own server and invite your people. anyone can join too, but that was the mainly idea they have for l4d and replacing the server browser. i dont think it bad at all, i dont know why people complaining to much about it.

Bioshock deserved everything it received. It was one of the best in history as you said. GTA-IV and Fallout's fight might go down to how many people like each genre. I am personally not familiar with the popularity of RPGs, but I know that GTA-IV sold millions so far. And this coming December I'm getting another copy for my PC for some real online play, not those lousy console kids who think it's cool to scream the F word when dying lol. RELOADING !!!

What a creepy, fast paced game. You rarely get a momentary rest in this one, as the hordes just keep coming. Protecting your teammates has never been such an important agenda, and it makes the co-op portion of the carnage even that much more fun when you can rescue a downed teammate.

Screams of 'RELOADING' echo off the subway walls from your partners, as wave after wave of zombies of all shapes and sizes hurl their bodies at your team.

From Boomers, who spit bile on you and explode with a HUGE bang when they die, to Hunters who leap and hang off of street lights, covering huge chunks of ground with each jump, each and every attack will catch you off-guard at some point.

Honestly, this game gives me the creeps. I hope you guys get a chance to team up and play some. This is the co-op game I have been looking for, and it lives up to its billing so far.

So I'm thinking of getting this game, but I've been thinking of getting fallout 3 also. Does anyone have an opinion on which game they would get if they had to choose between "left 4 dead," or "fallout 3".
