I downloaded the ISO of the demo a few days ago and tried it.

Thoughts:

It's much, much easier. I knew they were increasing the window for HOPOs but its ridiculously huge now. I five-starred The Metal on Expert on my first try. I shouldn't be able to do that with a song I'm unfamiliar with. On the plus side, Through the Fire and the Flames doesn't look like it will be nearly as impossible now.

The graphics are much improved, it now looks like a current generation game instead of a PS2 port cleaned up a little for HD.

The singer looks like a half-orc. Pretty funny. Johnny Napalm looks good, Judy Nails looks like a pr0n star...easy on the eyes but nothing like any female guitarist I've ever seen.

If you play by striking the strum bar (holding your thumb and index finger a if you were holding a pick then striking down against the strum bar) then you better learn to play a new way. The game registers these as doubles strums and will fail you out of a song in no time. I can play with my thumb, I just hate doing it. Since this is software and not hardware, hopefully it's either patchable or something you can set a slider on somewhere (the options menu is inaccessable in the demo). I can live with it but me no likey.

Overall, you can tell it's a new developer, everything is just a little bit "off", but it's still fun, it has an outstanding tracklist, and I still have it preordered. I have no idea when it'll show up since the release date is Sunday.

Rock Band will pwn it, though. Then again, Rock Band will pwn everything. :D

I'm going to check out the NFS demo tonight, hopefully it's nothing like Carbon.

I still play using the wireless control pad :) you know i suck. I did notice notes i should have missed and would have missed in gh2 came in as "close enough" and still let me have it. I total stunk on 1 song and should have failed it. I looked up and i was still rocking :? i was like "hummmmm" thats not right. But still fun and cool with a stereo.

1 day ill break down and buy a guitar for either the ps2 or xbox 360

need for speed pro street is different. I like the nitrus + runble. But to be honest it really doesnt feel like a NFS game. It just seems different. The demo is very short so its hard to tell.

I hated it. NFSMW was a great arcade racer. This feels like a wannabe Forza clone. I'm not a fan of realistic driving sims, but from what I hear Forza 2 pretty much completely nails it. There's no need for NFS to take this direction.

Big thumbs down.
