Either way the movie looks amazing (in part because I'm a fan of musicals and Tim Burton films). I will definitely be seeing it. Alan Rickman is in it as well (for those of you who dont know he plays Metatron in Dogma or Snape in Harry Potter)

How could you leave out Sense and Sensibility when listing Alan Rickman credits?

Yeah, really. You cannot leave out Die Hard when talking Rickman. How about Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves too?

Burton's movies are always visually great to see, full of imagery. I try and see everyone I can on the big screen. And Depp is an amazing character actor, probably one of the best there has ever been. Too bad his movies are typically those frowned upon by the Acadamy.
This one is definatly on my holiday time must see list

Here's a question: who here likes Mars Attacks!?
I only know one other guy in person who liked it, besides me.

I think people bash the movie more than it deserves.
It wasn't one of my fave Burton movies, but I think it was entertaining enough to be worth the rental price of the movie.

Me too! I have it on Laserdisc in fact. :D I think one of my favourite Johnny Depp films has to be The Ninth Gate or Benny & Joon.

Mars Attacks kicks butt......I have it on DVD and just watched it like 3 weeks ago!
Did you know he kills Jack Nicholson twice in the movie as two different characters because apparently for years the studios had been telling him he *couldn't* kill off any character played by Jack Nicholson? lol

I saw Sweeney Todd over the holidays and thought it was pretty good. However, note that it is a musical, with lots of signing. I normally don't mind the signing, but neither Depp nor Boham Carter are trained singners. While their voices are good, at some point, most of us were "ok, enough with the singing already"
The visuals are good in the movie, typical Burton style shots.
Depp is as always amazing as a character actor
