I am a big fan of good cinema. And i need alot of intelectual stimulation. The Criterion Collection gives me a big reservoir of ideas and beautiful films. I just wanted to know if anyone here has anything from this collection. And if anyone of you do, do you want to start some sort of discussion of films we watch, and recommend new movies. I know Cain has the nice room build for movies.

I LOVE the Criterion collection. But you should have had another category: "Love it, but it's too damn expensive to own many."

Kurosawa by Criterion FTW!

Ya i should have that. Average price of one dvd is 35 dollars. But the picture and sound are remastered. There is bonus material. There are rarely movies like these being made today, or made but not distributed. I like to watch entertaining movies once in a while, but i do not like to stoop down to the garbage they mostly put out.

I like the first matrix, but i saw it once and maybe after a few years will watch it again. It was entertaining. But fails short of being art in too many ways. What i am trying to say is that when i have time to waste i will watch one of those movies. The first martix was good, the second and third are just for the studio to make more money and are trash. You never saw a Cassavetes film? No special effects, but i will watch them a few times a year. If you watch Resnais' Hiroshima Mon Amour or Night and Fog you will know what a film is.

I had no idea it was back in print. It's been completely unavailable for like two years, just sort of sitting in my amazon wish list. I may just have to pick that up when I order me up some 20 buck Buffy the Vampire Slayer seasons and the Mel Brooks collection tonight. :2thumbs:

By the by, I was looking at my collection the other day, and noticed that Seven Samurai is spine number 2, which is just sort of cool.

You might also want to get Night and Fog by Resnais. It is only 12 dollars.
