They were the books where you were in a fantasy game that was split into many many numbered sections. You would start at section 1, would read the description, and then based on your choice, would go to the corresponding section.

You would be in a town and notice a light coming from a dark alley. To check out the light in the dark alley, go to section 45. To continue down the road, go to section 91.

If in that alley there was a trap, you would have to roll the dice and compare the score to your luck stat to see if you avoided it or not?

Well, you can now do them online! They aren?t the original ones, they seem to be mostly fan made, but they are still pretty fun.

Just make sure to make notes while playing, unless you have a good memory.

Just thought I?d share.

I had a few of those along with some of the Choose Your Own Adventure (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Choose_Your_Own_Adventure) and Zork (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zork_books) books.

As a side note Livingstone and Jackson also co-founded Games Workshop which back in '75 was just a mail-order company but now is one of the largest wargames companies in the world (they make Warhammer Fantasy, Warhammer 40K and LoTR tabletop games).
