I was wondering if anyone here uses Widgets. If so what do you use them for?

They are little apps that show up on your desktop. There are thousands of them. They are along the right side of my desktop.

I used to use a few in Konfabulator (kill that thing before you run BF2 though... it'll impact its performance).
I used to use a little weather widget, a to do list, and a calendar that displayed my personal calendar on our Exchange server.

I looked at the page once just out of curiosity and because I want to know what's out there tech-wise and not lose touch as I age (unlike some others here :P ), but I didn't get any. I don't like desktop clutter, and I had a kind of proto-widget some spyware thing gave me (weatherbug), and didn't really like it.
Same sort of deal with RSS feeds. I played around with them and got a reader, but I never use it.

I use the weather and the Wireless widgets. I've been reading up on designing them. I'm interested in making an RSS widget.

XML is not the most straight forward language. And java script is not a lot better, but at least java script looks like real code.
Why can't I write these things in COBOL!?!?!

Well it looks like my link is not working. I tried to fix it but the connection in this hotel wont let me upload. I keep getting an error. Anyway I have a weather, Wireles, analog clock, memory use indicator, cpu use indicator and A cooler looking waste basket. There are thousands of them for all types of stuff.
