But if anyone has ever had to walk their dog- when that nozzle came out and down, all I could think of was that the plane looked like it was doing its' doodie, for God and Country.

You can't really tell from the video but the plane is in a "hover pit". The plane is on a metal grate over an open pit. It helps simulate a mid-air condition else the plane would float in ground effect like a air hockey puck. The 3 guys left so that they wouldn't float like air hockey pucks too. That's 40'000 lb's of thrust from the engine and lift fan.
