Finally!

From Gamespot (http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/puzzle/rockband/news.html?sid=6180056&om_act=convert&om_clk=newlyadded&tag=newlyadded;title;1)

Shortly after Rock Band was first announced for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, retailers posted product pages for the game's various instruments and an all-in-one bundle. However, Harmonix and MTV Games remained stubbornly mum on the subject of pricing and package options for its music game.

That changed today, as a Harmonix rep confirmed for GameSpot that Amazon.com's latest changes to the game's price and release date are accurate. The online retailer is currently listing the Xbox 360 and PS3 bundles of the game for $169.99, with a November 23 release date.

In addition to that news, the representative also confirmed the PlayStation 2 version's price and release date. Last-gen gamers will have to wait a little longer to shred, but the price of admission won't be quite so steep, as the PS2 bundle will arrive December 10 and sell for $159.99. The game and instruments will also be available separately.

In May, results leaked from a focus group revealed MTV Games was asking potential customers about three price points--$150, $175, and $200. Shortly thereafter, GameStop began listing the entire bundle for $199, indicating that Harmonix, MTV Games, and distributor Electronic Arts had opted for the highest price point possible.

$30 cheaper than expected, which is good. Releasing on Black Friday ensures that if you want it, you better preorder it.

Will the package include 2 guitars (1 guitar, 1 bass), drums, mic and software?

One guitar, drum set, microphone, and the game. You can also use the X-Plorer guitar from Guitar Hero II and probably (not confirmed yet and probably won't be until it's released) the Les Paul from Guitar Hero III. Harmonix has publicly stated they want every first and third party guitar to work with Rock Band, but Red Octane is being a pain in the ass and trying very hard to ensure that GHIII's software and hardware are not compatible with anyone else's.

Normally that would be a sound business strategy, but it's going to backfire on them if they force people to buy two more controllers for GHIII, when so many of us already have at least one from GHII.

Things like this encourage me to only buy Rock Band.

Normally it would for me as well, but there are some songs on the GHIII setlist that I can't pass up, like Dragonforce's "Through the Fire and the Flames" and Metallica's "One". I don't want to buy it, but I know I will anyways.

Although, from watching this sample clip (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ZutgOyA9EY&mode=related&search=) of part of the song, I don't know why, since this will make my fingers bleed, and possibly my head explode.

However, Red Octane is making the huge mistake of releasing GHIII on the PC, where it will instantly be hacked for custom songs (like the PS2 version was), and they'll have real trouble trying to convince people to shell out money for Guitar Hero IV in the future.
