Wow. This can be used for so many different applications. The bmw ad was pretty funny. Its amazing how that much data can be shown at once(the entire book in one picture comes to mind) Felt like an infinite zoom.:D

That video has been out for well over a year now I'd say. Where's the practical application at???

Probably locked away where they keep the Ark of the Covenant. This type of technology has very broad application, from benign to quite sinister. Though it or something very similar will eventually make mainstream in some form or fashion, it wouldn't surprise me if the US Government has managed to get it shut down or brought under their umbrella. It's just too useful for foreign powers and terrorists even in a beta form.

While certainly I could see some intelligence uses for the technology I wouldn't necessarily jump on the terrorist are gonna use it band wagon. Mostly cause you could get all of the positioning data from Google maps so restricting this dosn't make sense.

Google maps gives you positioning data, but this thing lets you take a walk around any potential target (assuming there are photos for it) without having to be there. Living just outside D.C., I know they aren't shy about stopping people who are taking pictures and investigating them if they seem the least bit suspicious. With this technology, you can let others do the work for you, stay safely away, and get the benefit.
Besides, google maps fuzzes out a number of places, some of which people with cameras can still see on the ground. The naval observatory is one. Cheney got Google to fuzz out the aerial, but you can see parts of it from nearby streets and snap shots.
And I'm not jumping on the "terrorist are gonna use it band wagon." Trooper asked a question, and I just answered it based in large part on how our government thinks. :)
