Me: Death Cab for Cutie-Soul Meets Body is my #1 song, hehe.

Also the Decemberists, Badly Drawn Boy, Interpol, The NoTwist and Postal Service it's an indie kick still

so what are you hearin? throw some out here, we can find out what the top genre is

hmm.

I've been getting into some of the newer hard stuff that the kids seem to be liking.

Like As I lay Dying, Alexisonfire, Shadows Fall, etc etc.

I like anything really. Been listening to some Jazz radio a bit more as well.

and BB King/Eric Clapton. blues is always good.

I like a wide variety of music. from rap to rock, 80,90 dance, top40, pop, disco, grundge, heavy metal, and everything inbetween.

I think limiting yourself to one type of music is to deny yourself the enjoyment of what each type of music offers. (while opera isn't my thing though, id rather make jokes about that.)

My tastes vary somewhat. I don't like any Dance, Techno and such. I'm more into Rock kinda music.

For the last few weeks, I've been listening to 90s grunge bands like Soundgarden, Rage, Nirvana, Jane's Addiction...

I guess I'm into a nostalgia kinda stage right now.

I don't listen to much commercial music (I mean the music you are supposed to pay for or hear on the radio), so right now I'm kinda addicted to remixes of old video game music :D Here's where I got all of mine from: http://www.ocremix.org

I'm also addicted to a few Asian songs, I like the way asian languages sound :)

lol <_<;;

I just don't like much music with vocals... they get annoying to me. Also I don't want to have to pay attention to what they are saying, and focus more on how the actual song sounds.

I guess there's nothing much else to say other than the fact that I own one cd... which is a video game soundtrack I got for free for preordering a game 5 years ago O_o

New NIN stuff is great :) good tunes.

29th Oct 2005, 11:30 AM
Yah dude.. whoever doesn't like NIN can just.. uhh.. start liking them? cause they are awesome. I usually don't listen to anything that was made after 2000 ish.. unless it was a band I liked before. I hate most of the "new rock". I guess that alternative stuff can be alright. But I am more of the classic rock kind of music. Zeppelin, Stones, skynyrd and the like. I love 80s though.. reminds me of playing the NES when I was like 5 ha. Rap and country should be destroyed.. unless it is the classic rap and the classic country.. ha like rap that was made in the late 80s and early 90s. Like Cypruss Hill and those DMC guys.. ha.. and country that was made before the 80s.. like Willie Nelson and Kris Kristofferson.

Cliff-Jeff
29th Oct 2005, 03:22 PM
meh, my roomate Loves NIN, but he wasnt a fan of the new stuff. I cant believe some kid wrote the lead singer a letter that said he was gunna kill himself, but after listening to a NIN cd he knew that someone else felt his pain...

So if u are in Pain, go listen to NIN...

If you want good music, listen to other stuff heehhe...

Kenny85
29th Oct 2005, 04:19 PM
Dude Cliff Jeff.. you have no idea.. ha.. that thing we talked about a while back... seriously.. NIN makes you KNOW that there are others out there that have problems.. you may not have to like it.. but it DOES help. Some people think they are the only ones dealing with a certain situation.. or problem.. and I'd believe that guy because I know first hand that it works. Plus there are some just plain good stuff in some of their songs.. I love Hurt.. and Something I can Never Have.. and well there are a bunch.. I think NIN does the exact opposite of what people always just assumed.. that only the gothic kids listen to them and that it is a way to like.. make their pain in words or some BS.. but all I know is I am not a goth.. and I don't walk around all like.. "oohhhh my pain is sooooo bad" or whatever those people do..

Anything and everything... Except most country songs... AHHHH country songs suck...

I prefer Rock though... any kind classic, modern, hard, soft. I mean if its anything-rock I prolly love it to death.

To name a few of my fav bands.
SOAD
Coldplay
Nirvana
As I Lay Dying is good =)
Led Zeppelin
Lynyrd Skynyrd
Pink Floyd
The Beatles
Tom Petty
Eagles
Deftones
Emery
Haste The Day
Taking Back Sunday
The Foo Fighters
Hawthore Heights
--Switch genres--
Lil Flip
Chamillionare
The Game
Ludacris
Biggie Smalls
Dr. Dre

And Possibly my favorite song ever... no words, just music
Rob D. - Club To Death(Its off the Matrix Soundtrack.)

Can't think of anymore.... but I like a whole lot more.

I think limiting yourself to one type of music is to deny yourself the enjoyment of what each type of music offers.

So true... so true...

Kenny85
30th Oct 2005, 09:21 AM
Well maybe they aren't limiting though... maybe they have tried it and just plain don't like it. I have tried country.. and rap.. and I can say for sure both do nothing for me. And while I have heard some modern rock I like.. it is too hard to find anything that sounds great to me with all of the not so great rock that people still play. Whereas with old music.. you know what is best.. because it survived. The sad part is.. I hear all of these bands that are not famous.. or ever played on the radio, and they have some of the greatest new stuff I have heard. Seems like anyone can be a musician.. but only a lucky few get to be rich and famous.. and in my opinion, most of those guys that get that lucky certainly don't deserve it. ha.. but whatever.. is all just taste anyhow

Cliff-Jeff
30th Oct 2005, 10:22 AM
i dont cosider myself limited by saying a certain genre, like i loved classic rock for sooo long: Beatles, Floyd, Zep, Who, Stones, solo George Harrison, Lennon, etc.

I just heard some DCFC and Postal Service and was intrigued so I decided to find other bands and songs that were related to them, and theyre related because theyre all considered "indie" so i used it more as guide than a divider

I went to the NIN concert a couple months ago and it was one of the best concerts i've ever seen. The sheer power and force of NIN is just crazy! My wife and I were down in the pit fighting with the kids, good fun.

My musical tastes is very wide and varried.....

Let's see, this is who I've bought and tried since last Christmas, based on recommendations and the like, mostly indie type bands. All of which I very much like, so those purchases worked out perfectly (no particular order):

-The Donnas
-The Yeah Yeah Yeahs
-Tegan and Sara
-Belle and Sebastian
-Rilo Kiley
-Melissa Ferrick
-Franz Ferdinand
-Modest Mouse
-The Anthology of American Folk Music box set
-Spamalot soundtrack

I've gotten new stuff from bands I love too:

-Sleater-Kinney--The Woods
-Talking Heads--The Name of This Band is Talking Heads [Live] 2 disc
-Natalie Merchant--Retrospective Limited Edition 2 disc
-Cat Power--You Are Free

I highly recommend all of the above. Most of it is just so good I can't even pick out favorites amongst them (Though Sleater-Kinney is probably my third fav band after R.E.M. and Radiohead).

hey all, i discovered this band a couple months ago on the internet while looking at the Red vs. Blue online Halo series videos. For those of you who have never seen a Red vs. Blue video, it's basically like watching a scene from Halo the video game but the characters mess around with each other and get into crazy situations. Think of it as "Seinfeld meets Halo". And so I found this music cd they sell on that site (www.redvsblue.com) and alot of the background music they use in the videos comes from this band called "Trocadero". I'd never heard of them before but I went to their website http://trocadero.net/ and you can sample most of their songs that are on the redvsblue music cd. After listening to their song "Half Life" on their website, I got hooked. Alot of their songs are really good to listen to and if you're a redvsblue fan, you probably have heard alot of them already, but IMO listen to the song "Half Life" on their website, the guitar solos are insanely good and very LOUD :D

all that classic rock is good and all...it just gets old.

i need freshness.

I find the "fresh" music gets old quicker than the "old" music. Classics are great. I listen to:

Pink Floyd
Deep Purple
The Who
The Guess Who
ZZ top
Stevie Ray Vaughn
The acronyms IE (BTO, CCR, ELO, etc).
Rolling Stones
ACDC for some pump up music for sportingstuff etc
The Beetles cause I'm pro like that

Basically I listen to a lot of music from back then. I've been listening the same radio station since I was a month old so I'm kind of set in my ways.

Midnight Rider
25th Nov 2005, 04:50 AM
well if i take a break from classic rock for a while and then go back to it...it will be good again.

but they dont make new music and that gives me nothing to look forward to.

thats one of the main things for me. waiting to see what a band will come out with next.

plus i find a lot of older people stick to the "classics are best" line.

their minds dont want to let go.
dont want to move on.

just let it go man.

let it go. *whispers*
