View Full Version : BOND!

Well, we have a new James Bond. So I'm putting up a poll question to see what people think.

I'm torn. My personal feelings is that this guy looks NOTHING like a Bond should look, and a blond Bond is just plain wrong. He also manages to look OLDER than Brosnan despite being about 20 years younger. The funny thing was, Soledad O'Brien from CNN was gushing over him this morning.

However, the guy directing Casino Royale (the name of the next movie--out next year, which is FAST), is the same guy who directed Goldeneye, which is one of the 2-3 best Bond movies ever.

So I'm in a state of confusion. I hate the new Bond, I love the direction of Goldeneye. Either way, it's Bond, so I'm there on opening night.

Daniel Craig

I searched Google :google2: :google1: yay me! Umm, yeah Bond is supposed to be 28 and have no gadgets for the next film "Casino Royale" i feel like Casino ROyale was already a film, i think Flint did it, (in like Flint, etc No? ok...) but anyway, its better than Orlando Bloom!!!

I was personally hoping it would be Jude Law, oh well. World 1323245342 Greg-12

Here is a linky to his IMDB bio

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0185819/

He played in the original Tomb Raider movie (with Angelina). He was the other tomb raider that was hired by the bad guy.

Without checking IMDB, I think the original Casino Royale was with Peter Sellers.

I thought it was David Niven but that could have been another version.

Well I am going to have to put a "meh".. I can't say for sure if I will like him. He was aparently cool in layer cake.. and I liked him in Road to Perdition. So he doesn't look like a Bond, but that doesn't mean he can't act like one. Besides.. anyone is better than Roger Moore.

Umm, I hate to disagree, BUT.... roger moore was NOT that bad, although every rathing thing says he was...did anyone ever see On Her Majesty's Secret Service? umm, yeah, bond gets married.....so crappy. GEORGE LAZENBY HE WAS TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!! He only did 1 movie then they brought back old Connery, who got replaced by Moore....i cant believe ud say Lazenby and Dalton over Moore, ugh... why do i know so much about this? hehehehe :D

Now I have to disagree with you here. Lazenby was very underrated. As was Dalton for that matter. Moore is just a joke. He was too old from the very beginning, not very dashing, didn't have good lines...all he had going for him was he got to mess with JAWS! Moonraker is just frigging hilarious though, have to give him that.

Two other things of interest with Moore. He's got the single worst opening to a Bond movie--when he's skiing, and they get destroyed, so he grabs the front ski of a snowmobile and snowboards...to the frigging Beach Boys. In a Bond movie. Ugh. And second, did you ever see the stunts? They're funny as hell. You'll see this guy skiiing or jumping off something and parachuting, and then all of a sudden they do this truly horrible and obvious cut to Moore trying to look cool.

I will say that The Man with the Golden Gun is a top 4-5 Bond movie. That's another point for Moore, but not enough to make up for the rest.

As for Lazenby, I thought he did a good job in that movie. The thing they did wrong was get Bond hitched, but at least they offed the wife like 10 minutes later.

Dalton? Well, The Living Daylights was ok, better than anything Moore did but not great (and the D'abos are/were HOT--this was one of the best Bond babes). But License to Kill was brilliant. After Goldeneye and Goldfinger, it is probably my favorite Bond film, about even with The Man with the Golden Gun. It had the darkest portrayal of Bond until the most recent one, where they tortured the guy for a year in North Korea before the movie even gets started.

So for me, it's Brosnan, Dalton, Connery (except for that piece of trash he did in the 80s known as Never Say Never Again--terrible), Lazenby, and Moore. Brosnan certain looked closest to what Bond should look like, and did well enough with the rest to be the best in my opinion.

Connery-->Bronsan-->Moore-->Dalton-->Lazenby

While I agree with you about Moore's Looks of being bond, but he definately did an ok job, i understand why Lazenby only got 1 movie (they wanted connery back) but in his performance, after getting married, when his wife gets axed, he in no way acts like a "trained killer" hes such a bad actor, what else has he done? Also, Dalton was pretty cool with those columbian dudes... u know? reverse dalton and moore... ok, u win....

I didn't say I wopuld take the 1 movie guy over Moore.. I don't count the 1 movie guy as a bond.. it is as simple as that. I just don't even consider him. But to me it is Connery>Brosnan>Dalton>Moore... Dalton was NOT bad at all I don't think. Atleast he actually LOOKED like Bond should. Moore with his fruity hair and such. Voice I HATED. GOD I hate Moore so much.. ha.

I just saw LayerCake last night.. was GREAT.. had the new Bond in it. Having seen it I can say the guy is cool as hell.. but I didn't really see him as a Bond. So I guess we shall see.. should be interesting. Still leaving my vote at "meh" though. But if you want ot see the new Bond in action go rent Layer Cake.

Haven't seen Layer Cake, but I saw him in Munich. And half the time he was on screen, I was thinking "this craggy-faced blond guy is BOND? WTH?"

Well I have to agree..he doesn't fit the Sean Conner (Best) image but think of it this way..what if David Niven was the image you had of bond...he would be an improvement;)

Go to the video store. Right now. Rent Goldeneye. Watch it, and marvel at its shear greatness as a Bond film.

There are three truly great Bond films: Goldfinger, The Man with the Golden Gun, and Goldeneye. Very interesting coincidence that all have "gold" in them.

-RandPierce Brosnan I can see as Bond. It's just that I never went back to Bond after Roger Moore. I'll take your advice and give it a shot. :)
