I am having serious problems with reinstalling BF2. It worked fine until I tried to reinstall SF. Today I decided to reinstall the whole series from the begining. Now BF2 freezes when I put in the second disk, just like when I tried to reinstall SF. They always worked before until now. Can anyone help me?:(

Sounds like one of your disks is scratched, or corrupted. You can try cleaning them, if all else fails let me know and Ill send you some software I wrote that will try and make a disc image from your discs. Then You can burn yourself a new copy. This works as the Installer has a set number of retries before it freezes or returns an error wheres disc imaging programs often do not.

If it is a scratched disc get one of those disc polishing systems. I had one and repaired some of my son's discs before.

Hey Mass download jv16 power tools demo (Just search it on Google) use it to uninstall BF2 and special forces then use the registry cleaner. Once thats finished do a defrag on your HDD (Start-All Programs-Accessories-System Tools-Disk Defragmenter) finally install bf2 then sf then patch to 1.41 (DO NOT USE MULTIPLE PATCHS!!! eg do not path to 1.1 then 1.2 then 1.3 ect..
Please try Mass we need you in here GOOD LUCK:2thumbs:

Ok well I noticed most of your drivers are WAY out of date...if u have $20 I suggest using www.driveragent.com it gives you a full year of service for keeping all your drivers up to date...easier then going to individual sites for each product.
The only other thing I can suggest is make sure you run the game with Admin privledges for XP...I have found a couple forums talking about this issue

Im sorry im so pissed off right now. After spending 7 hours dealing with this nonsense im a little fumed. I guess the real deal is I was excited to play with you all again after almost a year of absence, and now this happens. My computer is a dell and they gave me no back-up disks. I've never reformated before. Do I need XP for my system to run? My guess is that since its an operating system if I reformat it withot a back-up disk my computer will not start at all. Where did my Sledge hammer go? Smash! Boom! Ahhhhh Much better.

look through your manuals, and on back of your pc case. they had to at least give you a product key for your OS. then all youll need is a friend with a good disc of your current flavor of OS.
youll want to download all the drivers youll be needing and put them to cd/dvd before even attempting

Call Dell and ask them for help with a copy of your OS.

+1 Like Blackarrow told Hawkeye yesterday I need my own personal tech support. :D I still find it strange how one day it worked and after that kaput. Computer's are fickle little things. I was literally pulling my hair out with all the different attempts that had failed. Ive got a year to wait before I can take the guy out for some brews. How about I take ya for some kart racing soon hawkeye?:D

If you don't mind my asking (and if it's not too long a process) may I ask what you did? I had a very similar problem with Oblivion recently, and I finally caved and just used Kenshin's disc to install. Fixed the problem, but not the way I wanted to.

Handy tool for everyone here... Excellent for cleaning up your pc and strategically fixing minor to moderate issues...
http://www.ccleaner.com
Ccleaner a.k.a CrapCleaner is the best free program I've found and I use it religiously when working on customer pc's. It has an uninstall function and registry cleanup too. Don't be surprised if it takes a while on the initial scan. My first time I cleaned up 2 gigs of garbage :o
CCleaner is a freeware system optimization and privacy tool. It removes unused files from your system - allowing Windows to run faster and freeing up valuable hard disk space. It also cleans traces of your online activities such as your Internet history. But the best part is that it's fast (normally taking less than a second to run) and contains NO Spyware or Adware! :)
Advanced features to remove unused and old entries, including File Extensions, ActiveX Controls, ClassIDs, ProgIDs, Uninstallers, Shared DLLs, Fonts, Help Files, Application Paths, Icons, Invalid Shortcuts and more... also comes with a comprehensive backup feature.
Removes temp files and recent file lists (MRUs) from many apps including Media Player, eMule, Kazaa, Google Toolbar, Netscape, MS Office, Nero, Adobe Acrobat, WinRAR, WinAce, WinZip and many more...
100% Spyware FREE
This software does NOT contain any Spyware, Adware or Viruses
It also automatically notifies you upon opening if there are any updates available. You do not have to uninstall the old version to update.

The problem Mass had and that you may be having is a damaged disc, Your best best is to use a program like ultra ISO, or game drive to make a disc image and then burn the image back to a new disk or mount it on a virtual drive. :D

Does this work with movies as well? I mean conceptually I could see it being true, but I have 4 movies that the kids scratched that stop playing at a certain point, and if this does work, then you may have made my day.
Thanks!
