After reading A1B2C3CAL on Gears Of War which I almost bought today but instead choose Sins of a Solor Empire, I hope I will not regret having bought this game. I am going out of my realm here as I normaly do not get these types of game so trying something new for a change. Does anyone here have this game?

Not yet, as I still have to finish the Witcher, Bioshock, Crysis and WIC.
Oh boy, full time jobs really kill your free time... :D

The reviews look great though:

I like 4X games but I never manage to get anywhere in them. I'll play it for hours the day I get it, save the game, then start a new one the next time I load it up because I can't be bothered to try and remember what is going on in my sprawling empire. Eventually I quit playing it because I never get anywhere.

But I picked up SOTSE on a whim last night and it's surprisingly good. It takes all the fun stuff of 4X games, takes out all the boring stuff, and mixes in a healthy dose of Homeworld-style realtime fighting. Think Command and Conquer on a really, really big map, with lots of researching and base building, but on a manageable scale, not the ridiculous amounts necessary in most 4X games.

:2thumbs:

Unfortunately a friend and I both picked up Army of Two today, so I'll be hanging in 360 co-op land for awhile before I get back to SOTSE.

I'm going to try to win this from PC Gamer, or wait until the $20 price point. I'm debating whether or not to get one or both of Super Smash Brothers Brawl and Bully: Scholarship Edition, and I'm saving for a reconditioned 60GB PS3 for next month. That eats up all my gaming budget for some time.

Yeah, me too. When I talk "gaming budget," especially for something as expensive as a PS3, I'm deducting money from things that are more useful, like credit card payments, entertainment out with or without the wife, and savings. :D

I know how you guy's feel about having a budget when it comes too games. :( I am so behind compared too alot of folks who have been gaming long before me. I got my start in 2001 and have loved every minute of it. Now when I see a game I go for it but I can tell you that my wife when she finds out I bought a game, She gives me that look that KILLS! You can bet I have made her S*&$ list so I have too watch my 6:00. :( Hehehehe
