I saw this tonight on the sneak preview. Almost certainly the best movie I've seen so far this year, with Oscar-caliber acting once again from Russell Crowe. Christian Bale wasn't so bad himself. Very much worth seeing in theaters, even for those who may not necessarily like the western genre.

hmmm, maybe after you say that I will think about seeing it. Not a big fan of Crowe though...

Even I am interested in this one. I like the old west, and I am a fan some of russels work. So, you saw the movie or you saw some sneak peak trailer for it Rand?

Doesn't mean it's not good. Not all remakes suck. :D
Yes, I saw the whole thing. They had a national sneak preview showing at 7:30 pm on Sunday.

Typically, if a movie is bad, they won't bother issuing a remake (I hope nobody is waiting for a "Baby Geniuses" reimagination), and if a movie is good, there is no point in remaking it as there is nothing wrong with the original (don't ask me why Gus Van Sant redid "Psycho").
That said...
I am hearing REALLY good things about this film. Normally, I wouldn't see it, but I get the funny feeling if I miss this one I will regret it.

This may be true in some genres, but in the world of horror, bad movies are perfect candidates for bad remakes. Exhibit A:
The Fog (1980) (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0080749/)
The Fog (2005) (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0432291/)
There are others......but lets just say its not pretty, so lets not go there
Now about 3:10 to Yuma, TBH this movie kinda slid past my radar, but given the glowing review by our own CLR critic Rand, I might have to give this a second look. Thanks for the heads up Rand :2thumbs:

Are these actually in the works? :| You do NOT remake Kurosawa, or Kubrick (besides, Seven Samurai was already "remade" as The Magnificent Seven, among others). Also, you don't remake 80 year old films that have gone down as among the greatest ever made. What's next, Maltese Falcon and Citizen Kane?

+1 You can say that again!
(but you don't really have to say it again... :D)
