Never played the original but looks like a fun multiplayer game (32p max) plus the retail version includes a bluetooth headset which will come in handy for UT3 as well.

Cain you going to set up a Warhawk server?
Whenever you create a game your ps3 is the server. thats why they use ps3s for warhawks offical servers. all ranked games you host are dedicated and you can not play in your own ranked game. but any unranked game you host you can play in. you can also set up a list of maps you want to play and after the battle you will move to a diffrent map instead of having to make a new game every time. and to make it lag free every time you make a game you have to do a upload speed test and the game sets the max player count.

Pretty low score from a playstation only magazine
they say its third person shooter that never manages to get off of the ground.
Im sure multiplayer only was a big nock and that usually does upset people.

IGN: slams warhawk and lair in their podcast:
http://retromovies.ign.com/games/audio/article/814/814023/Podcast%20Beyond%20Episode%209.mp3
IGN Playstation editors discusses the upcoming Lair. They have completed their review on the title and claim that the title is painful, repetitive and not fun
These might be better rent games.
disclaimer: My posts reflect recent news about the discussed games and don't reflect my personal opinion of the game at all. What i post is just upto date info that i think might help people when choosing if to buy a game vs renting it first to make sure it warrants the 60 dollar price.

Multiplayer only was a negative but not having offline bot support was one too. Guess I'm used to PC games like UT'99/2K3/2K4 where I could care less about bots or singleplayer mode and want more info on the online aspect.

Warhawk forums have some interesting background info on the guy who wrote the review...another words more console drama. I agree renting before you buy (w/ any console game) is definitely the way to go given the price tag of new releases.
BTW here's the free BT headset that comes w/ the retail version: Jabra BT125 (http://reviews.cnet.com/bluetooth-headsets/jabra-bt125/4505-12523_7-32117555.html)

It looks like it'll be a good game. I'll be getting it (and the included headset will come in handy for other games too). I'll be away when it releases next week, but I'll pick it up as soon as I can. :)

I just picked up a copy, but I won't be returning home to my PS3 until Monday, so all I can do is charge my headset and mess around with it and my cell.
The packaging looks pretty cool though... ;)

Nice video review (http://media.ps3.ign.com/media/748/748468/vids_1.html) from IGN
Looks to have server options for plenty of game modes...even a "dogfight" one where it's just pure air combat. Just got my BB coupons so might get this on Monday when I come back although it's been a long time since I've played a game w/o the KB+M...:D

BTW there's a "w/o the BT mic" version on the way Oct 10th.
Link: Warhawk $40 BD version (http://www.gamespot.com/news/6180230.html?tag=latestnews;title;3)
Would love to see a 32p Dogfight (TDM) server on the big screen and at that price I might pick it up...:2thumbs:
BTW did anyone pick up the boxed version?
How's the BT Headset?
Thoughts on the game?

The Jabra headset is excellent! The game is pretty good, not BF2142 good. The fighters are awesome (dogfighting is the best part of the game), the rest I found kind of weak as compared to the bf series of games.

I find the headset doesn't fit my ear all that well. It's fine once I position it correctly, but it pops itself out after a while. Kind of annoying...

Would you say getting a USB headset is a better choice if your just concerned about using the mic (all my sound will be through HT speakers)?

Well, that all depends on how well the BT headset fits you. I have no complaints about its quality, it just isn't the right fit for my ear. If you think it might be a problem for you, I'd say get a USB headset.
I haven't looked around in the settings, but with the BT headset, all voice communications come through the BT earpiece. I don't know if it's possible to set it to use speakers. If it is, might as well get the USB one.
