I've just been thinking about what games i used to play 10-15 years ago and one suddenly hit me that i hadn't thought about since probably the last time i played it (when i sold my SNES..... so long ago :( )

Killer Instinct! Did anybody play this? Took forever to master that 48 hit combo. :D For those who don't know of this game.

What old skool game brings back your best memories?

The first game I ever did well at and could beat was Dragons Lair. I dropped a lot of quarters in that machine but whenever I played I would have a crowd around watching me.

The first PC game I can remember was a game called The Mist. I think Stephen King had something to do with it also. It was one of those games the you type "W" to go west and then you read the description and continued from there.

The next one I remember was Wasteland not only was there a description but some graphics as well.

I played Killer Instinct my best combo was only 34. With that 1 chick with the sticks that turned into that cat.

Murphy, you're using the wrong screen shot from Super Mario Brothers. That's not old school. :P

First console for me was Intellivision, and probably the first game on it? Baseball. My first arcade machines were late 70s/early 80s mainstays: pac-man, space invaders, asteroids, missile command, dig dug, etc.

Remember, I'm Ancient... PONG came out at the arcades.
Pacman.. Mario Bros. MIST, Oh Yeah...
Asteroids, spent ROLLS of quarters on. Ahhhh, the days....

First Computer, Pentium 90. I was SMOKIN. First Star wars game. Actually had to buffer it down to play some of the games, as they weren't made for that kind of Raw Awesome speed... lololol

MechWarrior, first GOOD armor game I ever played IMO.

Now my computer has 7 fans to keep it cool enough to play, and it's outdated. :)

Dig Dug, Elevator Action, Street Fighter II, Streets of Rage II on the console side.

SWOTL, Lakers vs. Celtics, Mist, BoB:Their Finest Hour on the PC. All on a 486/50 with 8mb RAM and a 2x CD drive !! Those were the days ....

I didn't really do much with Video games, but I loved the good old Starfox (I was a nintendo freak).

When I got a lil older and more mature I started playing the nintendo 64 Zelda games, and LOVED THEM. I still love them today, I'm excited for the new one to come out, I finally beat Twilight Princess... and left me confused... (SPOILER BELOW)

"Link.... I....I.... see you later..."

"breaks mirror of twilight"

I hope there is more to do with the Twilight Princess. As annoying as that lil creature Imp was, it was hard to resist liking her personality... and I sound like a fruit cake right now

Here come a bunch of pictures, as I'm not sure everyone knows the names of what I am posting.

Ah...Killer Instinct. I loved Orchid with her mono boob. hehe
I prefered the Mortal Kombat series though.

First console was like Rand, an Intellivision
http://www.oldschoolgamer.ca/syspics/21-92.jpg

Games I remember on there were Football, Tron and NightStalker
http://www.videogamecritic.net/images/intel/super_pro_football.png

I also had an Apple IIe computer where I first played my computer games
http://www.solarnavigator.net/images/apple_IIe_original_personal_computer.jpg

Played some Karateka and some Epic Winter and Summer Games. Yes, it had a monochrome green and black screen. THAT is old school ROFL.
http://www.webomatica.com/images/blog/2e/karateka_lg.gif

I then moved on the NES, SNES, Genesis, Dreamcast and such I think we all know those consoles. Although here is the TRUE old school Mario from the NES days
http://homepages.cae.wisc.edu/~mschneid/images/mario.gif

In the arcades, I remember playing Gauntlet (first 4 player game), Operation Wolf (gun game with an Uzi), Double Dragon. There were older ones, but those are the ones I remember.
http://www.rideland.com/user/OperationWolf_sm.jpg

I lived in arcades for many many years, I loved those places. Sadly, not many left around these days with consoles.

On the PC, I remember being on BBS and playing some text based games like Trade Wars 2002 and LORD
http://games.mail.ru/upload/Image/news_236_s.JPG

I then moved into Ultima Online in 1997 (first MMO as we know today). That got me hooked on MMOS.
http://info.grenshad.net/images/Ultima%20Online%20-%20Vivre/lea.png

And then UT in 1999 is what got my hooked on online FPS games.
No need to prints of this one, I think most of us know it.

Twinky I had a set up similar to that growing up. I don't think it was Mac though, Windows 311 I believe :P Took those freaking huge discs. I actually think we might still have that rig in the attic

I grew up on Wolfenstien 3D, Heritec, Hexen, Doom (Codenamed: The Chainsaw Game by my brother and I), and Bart's House of Weirdness. All of which are on my current computer :2thumbs:

You probably can buy the arcade version now. :D I've been playing around every now and then with arcade buy/sell/trade sites, and some machines are surprisingly inexpensive if you go to the right sources. I hope some of the old classics still work when I have a house big enough for machines, because I want a basement arcade some day. I HAVE to have one of those table pac-man or ms. pac-man machines. :2thumbs:

But, make sure you can get parts inexpensively. Contacts on buttons and joysticks were always high maintenance items. Having an arcade game that always breaks down is no fun.

I didn't spend much time in arcades growing up, and we never owned a console gaming system. But we DID have countless games for our Commodore 64. (Way too many to count) I have to say that, low graphics res and all, some of those games were (and still are) some of the most playable out there.

I hope atleast one person knows what that is from. Not my first, but one of my favorites. Sonic, Super Mario Bros, Supermario world, MK1, Samurai Showdown, Duck Hunt, Contra, StreetFighter2 THE WORLD WARRIOR(this was the best version IMO). I didnt have a comp when I was young, consoles only. Space invaders, defender, Joust and some others I cant remember for that old atari I had. I play alot more oldschool games now than I did then, Gotta love the Xbox.

Nearest arcade was at the Maine Mall 40 minutes away, so I didn't go there often. Of course I played the classics, but didn't spend a lot of time on it.

When I was quite young I used to entertain myself for hours though on our old C64 by drawing stuff in the text editor...

Only console I ever owned as the NES. I played contra, skate or die, super mario bros, excite bike, duck hunt... others prolly I can't remember.

As far as early PC games: nibbles and gorillas, sim city, commander keen, kings quests.

I think I've played every game listed so far. :o

Killer Instinct was awesome, until you ran into one of those kids that could hit you once at the beginning of the match and combo juggle you to death. I think there was a 72 hit finisher combo the girl had, it was the only insanely long one I could remember the moves to pull off since it only involved a couple of moves.

Some classics I haven't seen listed yet:

Rock n' Roll Racing (A Blizzard game!)

A10 Tank Killer (http://free-game-downloads.mosw.com/abandonware/pc/simulations/games_a/a_10_tank_killer.html) (played on an old pre-386 (XT? AT? Can't remember) on a two-color screen.
