2142 is a great game just has a lot of bull crap in it. They have great ideas, but failed to make them properly. I really hope they don't just give up on it.

They should improve BF2 and BF2142. There is to many to improve before new relase

Erm you know they're already making a console BF (bad company) which may be released for PC but seems to be more of a story-driven single-player deal. There is no chance that EA is going to develop another BF game in the next 1 1/2 years or so. But the will definitely produce another booster for 2142, maybe some paid content for BF2 as well, seeing as how it's experiencing somewhat of a resurgence.

This was my first BF game... If there are no solid patches that really fix some issues it will be my last BF game too. It's starting to look that was based on how people describe bugs from BF2

Make a new game and this time provide the full SDK and editor so there is a vibrant MOD community. EA really dropped the ball on this for BF2142. An active MOD community can really maintain interest in and extend the life of a game. Valve games are really good at this.

I prefer games that include the SDK and editor with the game. Crysis is supposed to do this. We will see.
