Who do you think will be the next President of the United States?

not just a vote but state why you think they will win. Please no flaming, just clean debate.

Please note the list is no particular order.

I think it comes down to McCain and Obama/Clinton and McCain should beat either one. Sadly the biggest loser in this next election is the country.

Can we vote for who we *wish* would win? :D

To be honest, I've never kept up with presidential elections until this time around. (maybe that's just because I'm finally able to vote)

So, no holds barred, I'd really like to see Senator John McCain win. A lot of the presidential hopefuls have been really wishy washy on their ideals and plans. And, perhaps I've missed some news stories or debates, but I think that McCain is pretty genuine. At this point, I'd much rather have a president that is what he says he is, and will do what he says he will do.

However, this comes from someone who has very little understanding of politics, economy, national relations, etc. I have never been able to grasp this kind of stuff. So, however naive I may be when it comes to this sort of stuff, I'd like to see McCain win the election.

I love McCain!!! Read both of his books, and I agree on most everything that he stands for. Right now, we need a President WITH military experience, and luckily, John McCain is the person to fit the bill. Unfortunately, I bet that if he is elected President, he will be the last President to have any actual military experience. Lets hope he wins in New Hampshire!!!

VOTE FOR MCCAIN!!!!!!

Bill Richardson is the most qualified out of any of the democratic party in my opinion.

Unfortunately, he doesn't have the big name or the deep pockets it takes to win. :(

In the spirit of who I THINK will win (who I WANT will make an excellent question for later, Limey), I went with Obama. He has momentum, is beating the heck out of Hilary (his #1 competitor), and Guliani himself said that whichever Republican is sent to the polls in 2008 will lose.

I think the Democratic Party is shooting themselves in the foot again. They could easily wrap this election up, going against the party of the most hated president in recent history, but their two frontrunners are an inexperienced woman that is married to a former president that at least half the country hates, and an inexperienced black man with "Hussein" as his middle name.

Large portions of the population will not vote for either of them because of the "Woman" "Clinton" "Black" "Hussein" tags without looking at the larger issues. While that is a shame, it is irrelevant in this election as neither of them has the experience needed in this particular political arena.

I would prefer that Ron Paul win, as his stated platform makes the most sense to me, but he has little to no chance at this point.

We will have another Republican president, and with a Democratically controlled congress that's probably the best bet, as they should keep each other in check to some degree.

We're on the downward slide to revolution or anarchy anyway, but I'd rather come home and play videogames and drink beer than run around with a rifle, so my ideal government these days consists of one party in control of the presidency, and the other in control of the congress. That way neither of them can do too much harm and it will stave off the inevitable destruction of the country.

Hmm, did you take one second to figure out what I was saying before you call me immature?

There are so many people that are going to throw their vote away because Hillary could be the first women president, just like people might throw their vote away because McCain was a POW. There are many more reasons, but for the sake of it being late at night I'll save them for later.

Not pointed at anyone in particular, but lets keep this discussion as mature as possible, with as little sarcasm and stupidness. Political discussions tend to get heated and turn nasty pretty quick.

If you are one of those pationate people who get aggressive when talking politics, who aren't open to discuss anything as your point is the only point to be had, then might want to sit this discussion out.

As a Canadian, I hope a more liberal, open government is appointed, as our government seems to take a lot of its cues from your government, and these days, they are not things that go with my way of thinking.

Giuliani - I feel he is the only one that has enough ballz to continue on with Iraq. And he has proven himself.

I prey to God that Hilliary doesn't win... She has already ran an 8 terrible years of my life, don't make it 12/16.

Obama, Not too sure about him. Seems like an ok guy but there is too much crap in the background about his previous time in life.

I have nothing against blacks nor women but I do feel this country is not ready for ether. The only way you could make me change my mind on this issue is Condoleezza Rice. She would have my vote 100% if she ran.

Personally I wish we would get someone who has enough guts to continue a troop surge into Iraq.... The reason we are losing is because we are too busy running around. The percentages are even showing after the last troop surge.

According to a poll conducted by USA Today and Gallup, McCain has 34% in New Hempshire, with Romney in 2nd place at 30%. That's a close gap, but does mean McCain has a good chance of placing 1st or 2nd, if voters turn up.

I'm not voting for McCain simply because he's a POW. I'll be the first to admit that economics and politics are far beyond my grasp, but I think McCain has a realistic plan and a good heart, which is precisely why I'll be voting for McCain.

Totally agreed. I loathe Hilliary. If she wins the Dem nominee ill be voting republican(I'm registered indep).

As the sig says I'm going to vote for obama should he get the Dem nominee, I like the cut of his jib. I would like to vote ron paul, but to be honest i dont think he has the potential to make himself the Repub front-runner.

Overwhelming Support!?!? :tard:
She WILL NOT win, because of all the negative media going on today. I would have to say that of the two democrats that might be elected would be Obama and Edwards, based on the Iowa results, but more than likely Obama and Clinton. For the Republicans McCain, and maybe Thompson.

The chances that a Republican will get elected this year is slim, thanks to Bush, who has tarnished the Republicans with the War in Iraq. Hopwfull wishing for the Republicans to stay in power. Even if they did though, it would be pretty hard to get the support of the Congress which the Democrats have a majority in...

Ron Paul.

But, the media censors him and pretty much ignores him.

In the end it'll be whomever the media crowns as the frontrunner.

We need a third, or fourth party. I'd like to see Dr.Paul head that party myself.

If I could vote I think I would vote Obama.

Hopefully he will be. As much as I'd like to see Ron Paul run as a Libertarian (his only real option since he is being blackballed by the media) and win, the reality is that he has so much support that it would split the Republican vote and hand the election to the Democratic Party. I would prefer Paul, but I can live with McCain.

On second thought, the more I look at Ron Paul's policies, maybe it's time to stop voting against a candidate, and start voting for what I believe in. If he runs as a Libertarian, I will vote for him. Realistically, that's basically handing the Democratic nominee a vote, but this "lesser of two evils" crap needs to stop. He has more than enough grassroots support to post significant poll numbers if more people think this way. Not enough to win, but maybe enough to make Washington pay attention to how completely pissed off the American people are. Besides, four years of a Democratic president and a Democratic congress promoting socialism might be what this country needs to wake it up.

Because most people are sheep, he cannot win. But if you listen to what he stands for, it's hard to argue with. Watch the linked movie in PainTrain's sig.

It takes a Republican to go to war and it takes a Democrat to hide us under the rug.

I am sticking with my "America in not ready for a female nor black President" stand. Which will make me believe that we are more likely to get a Republican as our next President.

I agree. Although in the future it would be great for change, but now is NOT the time, especially in time of war and economic crisis. We need a President WITH military experience, who can lead this great nation to victory. The democrats want to cut and run like we did in Vietnam. A better example is when the Soviets invaded Afghanistan. We sent in help and we helped them win. Unfortunately, we "@&$)(; up are end game." -Charlie Wilson (yes that movie was based on a true story). We are doing good right now, but if we leave, all the progress we have made will go down the drain. I don't like our President anymore than anyone else, but we must learn from our mistakes in the past, and not make them again. So in conclusion, the man who lead us to victory is John McCain!!!!

Paul would never have enough support to win. He's a radical with ideas that either are foolish or out of line with mainstream America. But that's a debate for another time.

I'd love to see Bill Richardson win, but it doesn't look like he will (which is a crying shame). As far as the election goes, no matter which "front runner" wins, we lose. Obama, in my opinion, would be least likely to screw this country any further. But if it comes down to Huckabee or Romney versus Clinton, I'm not even going to bother voting.

This is about getting your foot in the door, and getting noticed.
It will pay dividends down the pipe, as people will remember their

And no, Hillary will never get my vote. Not because of being a female, and
not because she is a Democrat. She is just TOO left wing radical to
appeal to me. We'd have a socialist/communist government setup if
