Over the past few months I have been toying around with smoking meat. I first smoked a Boston Butt on my gas grill, then smoked a few racks of baby back ribs.

After that experience I decided to get me an electric smoker. My reasoning with going electric is that you get your flavor from the smoke generated from the wood chips, not the heat source, so why bother with charcoal or gas when you can just plug it in and set your temperature.

I lucked out and found this guy on sale for $99.
Masterbuilt 30" Electric Smokehouse (http://www.masterbuilt.com/prod-smokers-analogue.html)

I tried it out last weekend, and smoking was a breeze. I smoked a Butt for 8 hours, and I only had to refill my wood chips once. This weekend I think I will try to smoke some more baby back ribs.

Anyone else like to smoke? Any particular rubs you like? I have tried a few, but haven't settled on one yet.

I have a smoker (electric too).Unfortunately i have to refill my wood about every hour since its not as nice as the one you linked.

I smoked a porkloin on sunday. Typically I make a dry rub and rub down whatever cut I'm using about 4 hours in advance.

I love to make jalapeno poppers on the smoker. Take some jalapenos and halve them, then remove the seeds. Put some cheddar on one half and wrap with a piece of bacon (then toothpick it in place). Smoke for about 2-3 hours.

Also good with cream cheese.

We have a smoker but it's a charcoal one, the lid doesn't sit on it right and it take FOREVER. But.. we still use it almost every weekend :D My favorite so far was a meatloaf but I know my husband would beg to differ seeings how he lost both eyebrows in the process of taking the meatloaf out

I love smoking. Ribs, Turkeys, burgers and even vegetables. My newest is also a Masterbuilt Smoker. I started out with Charcoal, then converted it to gas. I like the Masterbuilt best. Easy to use smokes great and holds lots of food. :D
