I use a very large pitcher with this recipe. If you do not have a large one cut the simple syrup in half and adjust to taste.

2 cups of sugar
2 cups of water
2 cups of fresh squeezed lemon juice
1 cup of fresh squeezed orange juice
The zest of 2 lemons
the zest of 1 orange

Combine the water and sugar in a small pan.
Bring to a boil stiring occassionally.
After it comes to a boil remove from heat and allow to cool.
Poor the fresh Lemon Juice, Orange Juice, Lemon Zest and the Orange Zest into a pitcher.
Poor in the cooled simple syrup and stir.
Fill the pitcher with water and chill.
Serve ice cold.

The zest gives this a very fresh fruity flavor.
By making a simple syrup out of sugar and water the sugar will not seperate out as the lemonade chills.

After I had a 6 mm Kidney Stone the Urologist suggested I drink lots of lemonade. The citrate, in lemonade, helps to prevent the formation of calcium Kidney Stones. Trust me, you do not want a Kidney Stone. I have had broken ribs twice and would rather have them again instead.

I drink about 2 gallons of Turkey Hill Lemonade every week, so this sounds like a way to try out the real stuff .. just wish I knew what 'zest' was (other than soap).

I think it's the speed with which you peel them. :D

Citris Peel. Use a micro plane so you do not get any of the pith that is under the zest. That is the white part and is bitter. :D
This is a microplane. It resembles a wood rasp because it was developed from one. It makes very fine particles of zest.

If you use a zester you need to finely chop the zest before using.

MMMMMMMMM Love good lemonade. I like mine with crushed ice. I think the zest adds color too.

if you fancy yourself as any sort of cook at all, get yourself a micro plane!!!

they are awesome on zest, spices( things like nutmeg or clove) they are awesome on hard cheeses like Parmesan and Romano.. so thin it just melts instantly with slightest heat
