Golden Sniper Rifle

Well, I finally got the dang thing after working for it for hours! Now time to get better at the LMG's...

Anyways, take a close look... is this gold or orange? Looks like crap... I thought it'd be a LOT better looking than this, I'm quite disappionted...

It is an attempt to camo it, as the shotty is glossy bright gold.

It looks dark bronze or dark gold to me. Flat finish.

The gold shotty is bright yellow plated gold look.

it is usually pointed at your face from 10 meters away.. lol

Congrats, what is the requirement to get that? I have pretty much just been using my .50 cal and got red tiger for it ages ago

Deadly - If you want the nice-looking gold effect, turn on "specular map" in the graphics settings. The dragunov still keeps most of its wood finish, but it does look much, much better with the spec map on. You will also notice that the desert eagle changes from a weird greenish-yellow color to a nice shiny gold gun.

Sadly, I take a big performance hit when I turn on the specular map, and I'd have to turn down other settings I like more - I just leave it off.

Limey - One gun in each class can be gold, you have to complete all challenges for all guns in that class to unlock the gold camo. So for the gold dragunov, you need to complete all weapon challenges for the M40, M21, Dragunov, R700 and Barrett.

the headshots are whats killing me...for some reason i just keep hiting the dang chest or foot on the last bullet! It will come but very slowly for me!

It becomes a lot easier to obtain headshots once you find a great sniper posistion and know where snipers normally hide. On Crossfire when I was a noob I found a good sniper posistion and got 34 kills with 1-4 deaths (can't remember), people were quite shocked for someone with a low rank to get that :D


But now I know a decent sniper spot in almost every map (except vacant and Overgrown. Vacants self explanitory and Overgrown... people just seem to love to steal my spot once I get a certain amount of kills)

It really helped a lot, sacrifice your KD to find good sniper posistions is all I can say, it's well worth scouting the maps for sniper posistions then enemis to slaughter... and be patient! just because an enemy isn't there right now doesn't mean one won't come by :D

If you're going for the headshot challenges, your first bullet should be your last. Take your time, hold your breath, wait at least one heartbeat and take the shot. I see a lot of people (typically with the semi-auto guns like the M21 and Barrett) spraying shots. This will get you kills, but is much less likely to give you headshots.

Regarding your position, I generally move around from spot to spot, so you'll figure out what works for you. Just make sure to aim the first shot really carefully and you'll be there in no time :)

Thanks Assassin and L_mo...I also gotta remember to aim ahead of the target. I guess they implemented that into the pyhsic for this game. Finally a game with a brain. Ok I'll try it out tonight. Gotta get some dinner with family right now. Be back in about 1 hour!

But yes, it's an attempt to camouflage it. If your hiding in the grass and someone lokks down, he will see a BIG golden shiny thingy.

I tried it, but the game runs a lot worse. I'll stick to R700 anyways, I like it better, and I mainly wanted the gold sniper just to say "hey I did it"

It's a shame you can't choose which gun you want gold, mini uzi is crap compared to P90.

yeah... It would definitely be nice if you could pick which gun to gold-plate. I mean, I don't like their selection for -any- of the classes... Ok, maybe the LMG's M60 is nice gold, but all the other gold guns are kinda meh...

There ARE certain spots snipers like to use. I certainly watch for them,
or work to take them out. (Although they have found a NEW place on
City Streets that is above everything (With the market in the middle)

Very few snipers can kill you as you are running from a distance.
One killed me as I was jumping in the air yesterday, from across the
map, so it can be done, just not as likely.

I DO so love to knife snipers. I work hard to get behind them. :2thumbs:

I'm close to getting my shotty gold. :D
