View Full Version : is there a way to "ban" airstrikes?

On certain maps? Because on some of the little ones they practically cover the entire area, making them overpowered. Hell I even got 14 kills on 1 airstrike, I should be happy but it sucks. Is there any way at all, like a setting or something, to ban airstrikes?

I'm not suggesting banning a player for using an ingame option, just wondering if there is an option to turn them off or something, it really ruins the fun spawning 3 times and dying those 3 times from 1 airstrike.

Also, if possible it'd be great if we got an admin on around the time of this post, because I was watching a lot of sniper kill cams where they were jumping and hit me in the head repeatidly (if thats a word)

I'm about to log into the game.

It is actually harder to kill as a sniper than 2142, believe it or not.
I have gotten decent with snap shots as a sniper though, so don't
feel like they are all hacks, they are just that good.

All of the admin's take SS's and an occassional fraps of players to see
if there is anything going on. Suprisingly very very little is going on
that isn't just Uber L33T players having fun. We HAVE banned, though
it is MUCH MUCH less than what 2142 had, even on it's quiet days.

We have discussed the airstrike/gunship possible ban. On maps such as
bog, airstrikes kill alot of people at once. We don't run any maps that are
that gruesome for airstrike/gunship kills. Enough buildings to hide in that
those strikes don't take out alot of people normally. If is just part of the
game at this time. If it becomes a problem, then we shall re-address it.

Good gaming, and have fun. :2thumbs:

If you die 3 times from 1 air strike you are hitting the "F" key to quickly after each death, as you have a 5 second kill cam before respawn!

I like airstrikes. they piss me off at times but when I get 5 kills it makes me feel like I accomplished something.

Sometimes i get bored with Airstrikes and i will target just one person, say sitting back sniping, that shows up on the UAV.

I like them...great killing tool. Helis get on my nerves more. especially when you can't get it off because everyone else beats you to the punch lol

You don't get one after an airstrike

Yeah, making a jump shot is tricky, but not impossible. Unfortunately, it's a fault of the game. The "hold your breath" thing to stabilize the scope is nice, but you hold that same stabilization, even while -jumping- with your huge rifle. So yeah, it's a little unrealistic... You just have to find someone sitting still, jump a few times to line up your target, and then hold breath, jump, and shoot.

It's not the getting killed that bothers me, it's the constant earthquake that messes up your aim. :pissed:

Maps with lots of buildings, it sucks getting an airstrike, as noone dies.. lol

I have been a victim of an air strike, Respawn, and the gunship blasts me
immediately.. Just no winning some times..

Is there a difference between ranked and unranked, because either one does not cost anything to run right?

I don't mind the airstrikes really. Yeah, they're annoying when you die repeatedly to them or you watch a group of people on your team refuse to spread out to avoid getting slaughtered by them, thus giving the other team mad points lol. Usually, I just run to somewhere I hope is safe and hope for the best lol. When I do get caught in them...it's time to just put the ol' head between the legs and kiss your butt goodbye and chalk it up to being in the wrong place at the wrong time heh.

Yeah..

I always die right before I call in my airstrike .. on purpose hoping to get another. I died, respawned, and called in the airstrike. It went straight to 10 kill streak with the first bomb. I hate that cause I'd rather have the airstrike than the helo. It usually takes half the round to get the helo up but I finally got it, and you can't get another airstrike while you have a heli loaded so that kinda sucks. I was quite happy with it anyway seeing as how I had more than twice the number of kills of the next person on my team.

When I first started reading these forums, someone had a tips thread up, and someone who I wish I could remember posted that if you switch to pistol, and then call your heli repeatedly, you will get it up faster than someone who tries to call with a larger weapon equipped. This has gotten me more helis than I can count. I pay real close attention when I hear a heli going down, or if it seems like it's been up for a while, I hide and wait for it to start heading out of the playing area, then switch to pistol, and keep hitting 6. I almost always get it up right after I do that.

Helis are useless on Bloc - btw. As are airstrikes. I hate that about Bloc. I really like that map, but man, the only place you can really drop an airstrike is in the middle of the map, and most people stay out of there. My helis never like killing anyone on that level, either.

On bloc.. depending on what team you're on... if you drop an airstrike on the top of the second story, there is no roof and you're likely to take out a few of those snipers. I usually place it on that building right above the entrance to that building so it gets the ones inside, and the ones running to it. It may also take out ones running out in front down the sidewalk.
