I want to run the New Xbox on my monitor next to my pc and I was told they may be a few problems trying to get sound to work Thur the monitor.

Its not hard, but its not easy either lol. It also may depends if you have the new Slim model I read in the past the newer models are a little different in doing this. I havent bought the slim model yet cause my xbox hasnt broke on me yet lol

So lets say you have a older Xbox360 model:

You have a extra HDMI port on the monitor? Or are you going to use the VGA?

For VGA:

You will need one of these:

Gamestop.com - Buy Xbox 360 VGA HD/AV Cable - Xbox 360

It will look something like this out of the box:

Now depending on your audio setup, you can plug into the mic input on the back of the PC or if you have powered speakers. You may have to buy a Female to female 3.5mm

for your HDMI:

Microsoft Xbox 360 HDMI + Audio Dongle Adapter & Cable (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=6696334&CatId=5768)

Now several things here. You can use the Dongle RCA/Optical adapter, use some RCA cable and buy a RCA to 3.5mm splitter to plug in the back to your PC/powered speakers or audio receiver. You can also use the Dongle Optical output and plug into to your PC optical input. Also note that this adapter is probably a discontinued model since I cant find it on Xbox.com or gamestop. So you may have to look around. Make sure its a offical Xbox model cause I read people with knock off copys have issues.

Now with the New Xbox 360 slim model.

Since apperently the old RCA/optical dongle is discontinued, and can't use the included cables RCA since there is a "stub" on one end that prevent you from plugin ur HDMI without a mod. There is a optical output on the slim xbox itself. Since most PC's/audio cards and audio receiver now have optical input/output. Just use a optical cable with hdmi. Now if you want to use it with powered speakers... well you going have to buy a adapter for optical to rca converter
