My son just went to their concert the other nite....said it was awesome. It was only his second concert he's been to(Lincoln Park the other) and he said they put on a good show. From some of the songs I've heard, I kind of like 'em.

I say it's old, since it is a grunge band and grunge is dead.

What's that yeh say sonny? Somethin' about one of them old bands from the 90's? Grunge.. yeh. Back in my day the were so hip. I remember a time where I was shaking my bosoms down in the front row.. that was before the invention of the brazier and we had to walk uphill in the snow...
Darn, I'm old. :)

Greenday's new album redeemed them. 100%. I loved their old stuff, but the same old dirty psudo-punk whatever (I'm not familiar with musical labels lol) was getting tiresome.
"American Idiot" is a WONDERFUL concept album. It's beautifully structured musically and lyrically. The tunes are all memorable, and progress the story. Some of them (Holiday, American idiot) can be interpreted as political satire as well as a story. Which is how I like things done. By and large nowadays, the musicians are simply anti-bush which is stupid. Bands like System of a Down are utter wasted talent because they sprout poilitical garbage that they have no knowledge whatsoever of.
Back on topic, the guitar work is wonderful and keeps you interested for an album without solos. It's one of the first good albums in the past 10 years that has "movements", I dare to call them, in some of the songs (Song 2, and the final song). By and large it's a wonderful album and I'm very pleased to see the talented guys in Greenday break out of the bullcrap they were stuck in with their previous albums.
10/10 isha-points on this album.

Greenday were not Grunge, Soundgarden, PearlJam, Alice in Chains were grunge.
Greenday's First album was considered Punk. But i dont really think its Punk, Punk is the Circle Jerks, and Ramones.
i consider it in a different catagory i simply title Garage Band, though some use the broad term "alternative" Bands that dont really fall into standardized catagories will usually fit in here, Weezer, Eels, Radiohead.
their first 3 albums were really good but after dookie they started to really slack off on the creativity side. quite a few songs have the same 4 chord progressions. :( either way. billiy joe needs to lay off the junkfoods and get back to writing.

I suck with categories. to me there's rock. punk (ramones, sexp istols etc. pretty much isn't any anymore), rap, and the other genreal ones. R&B, blues, etc. I don't buy into all this "nu-metal" or "emo" crap. Rock is rock. Period.

Not to pick a fight :)
Why do you feel that SOAD is not informed on our political situation? Is this because no one can really be informed on the inner workings of our government system? Or do you feel that Bush knows what he's doing, therefore any anti sentiments are uninformed? Just curious why you stated that.....
I love the new album, its very well produced.
