I just took a look at my 96 Mazda B3000's exhaust. It looks like the exhaust pipe welds to the cat have broken and the only thing holding in against the cat is that the pipe protrudes about three inches into the Cat and the rubber grommet/pipe hanger is holding it against it. Any ideas on how to fix this on the cheap. Oh yeah I'm in Cali so weird emission laws apply.

Well in MO theyre not supposed to weld stuff like that ... but if you go to a couple of the smaller shops they will do it if you pay cash. But the only inspections we have are basic ones every year, no tailpipe emissions or anything.
My tuck passes inspection every time (legitimately) but i take it to a place that will 'inspect' it in 5 minutes versus the hours it takes at a legit place. my 2 cents.

I actually think its way too rusted to weld permanently. I could try some type of clamp....hmmm.
Yeah I wouldn't be able to do it illegally except for a temp fix anyways because every 2 years we get a visual/emission test
