Is there widescreen support for COD4? or is this another battlefield series of "widescreen gives an unfair advantage to some players" type of thing?

It supports widescreen. No nasty stretching. You can pick widescreen resolutions, and there's even an option to select your monitor's aspect ratio. :D

I'm 99% sure it's 16:10. I think i have mine set as auto as it does the same job. You only need to go manual if your overriding your monitors defaults.

do you have the 2216 as well? if so, 16:10 @ 1680x1050, ftw.

I'm pretty sure ALL widescreen monitors are 16:10.
16:9 is usually reserved for widescreen TVs, but I've never come across an actual computer monitor that is 16:9.

Actually, 16:9 DOES exist for computer monitors, but its generally few and far between compared to 16:10. Most common one you'll see out there is 1280X720, or 720P.
And let me just say how glad I am Infinity Ward recognized the benefits of widescreen displays (unlike some dev tEAms :P).

so, it can support 1680x1050?
no manual altering of the resolution in the shortcut's properties window, like 2142?

Correct. Unlike EA, Infinity Ward doesn't have a bass-ackward view towards new technology :2thumbs:
