Summary
In Battlefield: Bad Company 2, the Bad Company crew again find themselves in the heart of the action, where they must use every weapon and vehicle at their disposal to survive. The 'B' company fight their way through snowy mountaintops, dense jungles and dusty villages. Players can now download a free* console demo worldwide on Xbox LIVE(TM) Marketplace. A PC beta is also now available to players that pre-order the game at participating retailers in North America, Europe and Asia, and through select community channels.

On February 4th, the demo will be accessible on the PlayStation(R)Network in Europe and on February 11th in North America.

The Battlefield: Bad Company 2 console demo and PC beta will feature Port Valdez, a new vehicle focused map where up to 24 players (32 on PC) will compete against each other as either the US or Russian armies in the game's Rush multiplayer mode. Players will have access to five land and three air vehicles where the Russian side can use everything in their arsenal including Main Battle Tanks as well as the fast-moving Quad Bikes and Mobile Armored AA. The fight will also be packed with plenty of infantry combat fought alongside the waterline towards a great oil industrial landscape in the Alaskan mountains.

BTW Demo looks great on the PS3 and so far servers have been lag free.

P.S. Should note there's a few unlocks in the Demo I forgot to mention like another LMG, Sniper Rifle, SMG and AR for the classes. Still getting used to the AA Tank...rather odd combination of weapons and hard to figure out the best use for it when going after the first crates.

Yep the same...AA Turret for the Gunner and the Driver w/ the MG/Mortar (assuming your using the Alt-Fire vehicle unlock). There's been lots of discussion on why do the attackers have the AA at the start when the defenders have nothing in the air yet...:scratch: Also why do the defenders get the Blackhawk at the last set of crates...:scratch:

As far as the AA the best I was able to do was park it on the hill overlooking the center of both crates and rain down mortars while trying to keep recons away w/ the MG. Hard to spot w/ the mortars sights as well so you really need a half decent person on the AA Turret.

Nice Phil...already got to team up w/ Major for a few rounds...just like old times...:D

I did have one of those BF Moments last week;
Went recon w/ the shotty, grabbed the ATV and headed to the first crate that's in the house via the woods route. No one was defending so busted the back door and did the "Toss Motion Mine/C4 on Crate/Arm Crate" combo and waited...saw two triangles closing in to disarm then...BOOM...two kills. Ran up to the crate and three recons were running in from the front to disarm...got my shotty out...BOOM...BOOM...BOOM...three kills and then the crate charge went off...overall one big smile.

P.S. I will be on Fri (afternoon-evening) and Sat (evening) so anybody that wants to team up add my PSN for the BC2 invites.

How's the damage absorbtion of the crates in the demo? The PC beta has degenerated over the past sessions I played to "go recon, charge the crate, blow up c4, die, repeat until it is dead." Most of the time people aren't even bothering to arm the thing. :|

In the Demo I believe it takes 9 C4 charges to destroy the crate. I've notice in most Demo games crates fall by arming them rather than damage alone. The defense has varied from pretty tough to pretty weak so hard to really judge this part although some could be due to the limited unlocks in the Demo.

Since it's just a Demo and nothing counts IMO there's probably more players just trying to get used to the game by killing stuff rather than worrying about the crates.

Oh and noticed that AA Tank can carry two passengers as well (each has a side view w/ MG) so it makes this vehicle a rather odd APC of sorts.

So yeah, I finally bought all the old version of Battlefield so I can have my vet status. Before I had my own computer, I was playing with you all on 2142 an so on with my little brother's computer and this his games. So I went out there and got the rest. Today after work will be a long night of installing them all and patching, etc and then entering the vet codes for each one. Lucky me!

Someone please walk me through the steps of the vet codes so I get the right amount of points for BC 2.

Not sure this still works but I did read that you could use the BF2 Demo, BF2142 Demo and BF Heroes to get your Vet status at 2 for free. For BC2 I believe you get to use the M1 Garand too if you have vet status.

I know BF Heroes counts as one game and you don't even have to play it just sign up. To register just make an account via the link on the Veterans page or use your EA Account (https://profile.ea.com/acctcreate.do) login. I don't think any expansion packs count towards this number just full games.

As far as registering games on the Vet site;
For older BF games it will want the CD Serial Code, BF2 requires the BF2 login/password and BF2142 requires username/password of the EA Account used for BF2142. For the console you can also use BF1943, BC1 (Demo, Gold or Reg vr) and Modern Combat. Also don't forget to link all your previous EA Accounts (i.e. if you went the d/l route for any BF game) and any PSN/360 EA online game.

As Battlefield Bad Company 2 comes out next week, I'll tell you about the Day 1 map pack that is available to all players who purchase the game and apply their VIP code which comes with the game at no extra charge. The map pack contains two new maps which are the Rush map, Nelson Bay and the Conquest map, Laguna Alta which you can check out in the video now. The maps will be available from March 2nd which will allow the lucky North America players to get access and practice while us Europeans wait a few days more.

Later in March another map pack will be released containing Arica Harbor for Conquest and Laguna Presa for Rush

VIP codes are included in the box for all new purchases. Players that buy used versions and don't have a code can purchase one via the in-game store for $15. PC players will get the content as a game update.

The Vet program (http://veteran.battlefield.com/) is getting updated so you will have to wait a bit to register any BF games. Main thing is linking your EA Account w/ any previous BF accounts or console ID's. For me I had a BF2 Account, BF2142 Account and my PSN ID that all had to be linked first before any games would register.

Once the Vet program is back you will need serial keys for older BF games, registered name and password for BF2/2142 or console ID linked for those BF games. BF Heroes and some BF Demos will work as well but any expansion packs don't count for Vet status. For BC2 I think you just need a status of 2 for the M1 unlock and the entry level kit unlocks.

This is because he is always in a vehicle. I have his 2142 tags still to this day. I wont succumb to console FPS for multiplayer anymore, it's like playing with aim hacks. Too easy. Anyway, congrats on the top 1%. Is it the top 1% based on skill or just plain experience and rank?

I thought that much. I love being the gunner in the Apache. I gotta take the time of day and learn to pilot it all over again. So much different than the flying in 2142. Then again, I need to get a joystick again. Mouse just isn't doing it for me.

That's classic. Hammy and I had a similar experience not too long ago. He was having trouble aiming his tracer dart so he could mark the tank. I told I would kill him and then take his kit to fire the dart and then go back to my kit and revive him. So I killed him, traced the tanks and then the tank shot me. Hammy yelled at me for like 10 minutes. It lost us the game cause afterwards they took all of our vehicles and spawn killed us for the rest of the game.

Mass, Limey and I had an epic rush game last night as defenders on Port Valdez. We were up against a pretty decent team and we fought tooth and nail for each MCOM station for the whole map. Each set of stations were destroyed with only a few of their tickets left. Mass and Limey were rolling in the chopper for one set and racking up the kills. We ended up holding the very last MCOM, while being surrounded for what seemed like an eternity. The opposing team was rolling with a bunch of medics at the end, so each ticket we took was tough. They were trying deparately to get in to destroy the B station in the building at the end, but Mass, Limey, Myself and another squadmate held them off... one of the best games I have ever played, even though my k/d was under 1 ... stilll a blast... Epic game guys, ton of fun!

BTW according to the BC2 Twitter there's some some balance tweaks in the works for M60, M1911, AA, Tracer Dart, semi-auto weapons (slight range increase) and the M1/Thompson kills bug. They mentioned the Tracer Dart is "getting some love" so wonder if it will fire faster since it already has 100% accuracy.

The tracer is almost useless right now unless your target is on the ground and not moving quickly.... plus if you hit a vehicle and it has the vehicle smoke option, the smoke knocks the tracer off.... I don't see myself as a horrible marksmen, and i have never, i mean never been able to get a dart on a moving helicopter. The delay that you have between firing the dart and when it leaves the pistol is way too long.
The M60 is a bit too accurate over distance. I have been almost sniped by M60s a lot, a ton of medics roll with these. I personally prefer the MG36. Anyways... i hope they do't over compensate on any of these tweeks.

DUDE it was EPIC! I finished 43-25 and we were just awesome, our squad were the top 4 in the game!

One thing that gets me is when me and Limey had the chopper and were about to smash another tank, I dropped from 100% armour to nearly 3% in the blink of an eye, I know it was the AA but ive never seen it due that much damage so quickly. :scratch: But anyways that last round was awesome, our squad tore it up(as usual) :wink: :2thumbs:

My guess will be higher damage for the AA if they keep the burst fire. This combined w/ the Warhead spec should make them pretty deadly but still have the usual drawbacks of any open gun platform. M60 has the most damage and best accuracy of the LMG's so it's a no brainer right now especially w Mag Ammo. Not sure what's in store w/ the Tracer Dart but maybe faster fire rate or projectile speed increase.

i always roll with the engy and i found that with the uzi and 4X scope you cane snipe some one also it seems a little upsurd but i enjoy it. i guess i should try the Heli since MM thinks it most closly resembles the nekomata which thanks to MM I got pretty damn good at. hope to squad up soon, but the reason in not on too much is that where in the process of buying a house.

That AA gun is going to be an even higher priority target when in the air. That in conjunction with a faster tracer dart is going to make flying more challenging for sure.

Limey got that wicked helo take out from the back of the boat, while it was on the beach. I may have to try that tactic to get my pin. I did get a few kills with UMP while sitting in the fourth position on the boat on the beach... so that should help towards getting that pin.

Yeah, I'll probably be on tonight. I am getting close to a wicked deadline at work, but I should be able to get on. I need to start wrapping up my recon class, I rarely play it. But when I do I have been playing around with the G3 and M14 a bit while recon... both are tough rifles to use... iron sights and high recoil.

Well I do what I can, but you and Mass usually are scoring much higher then me. When Mass went 75-10.. I think I went something like 35 and 18. All I really care about is having fun... oh and winning. Points are icing. Having said that I am still having a blast with BFBC2, especially when I am on with you guys. :2thumbs:

Fiery, my computer died and I am not sure what I am going to do, either try and repair it or get a new rig. If I want a rig that will allow me to play the current generations of games I'll be spending some cash, when besides games all I need is a machine to browse the net and check email etc. In any case I have a few other personal reasons why I have been playing on the PS3 instead of the PC.

All that being said, you never know, and I may be back on in the future.

Gotta Love it, we worked those guys over. The team we joined was getting wrecked, must be why there were 5 spots open on the team. We came in worked through the first 5 min of crappy spawn raping and turned that game around in a hurry. Stopped em dead in their tracks.

Oh, and I have been thinking. What do you guys think is the best anti-air infantry set up? I haven't found a good set up... the darn tracer dart is just too slow to fire. It should be easier to hit the helicopters with the darts then it is to hit them with an rpg. Right now I find it just as tough to hit them with the tracer dart, so why bother. It should take skill to hit a helicopter with a dart....but right now it is nearly imposible, I have never been able get one to land. What are your guys thoughts?

The gunner damage is being decreased and the blast radius is also being decreased, the AA is being boosted by at least 10% damage over its current levels :(

Yes your right.. Soooo what's the problem? I thought it was going to be a radical change! This is small potatoes brother, my rockets with V Warhead are uneffected. You keep pounding the infantry, i'll kill the infantry and anything else that comes our way. :2thumbs:
