and xbox live is totally different from pc gaming.. both fun in there own ways... pc is big servers and xbox's are relatively small.. largest ive seen are around 24 players witch actually battlefield: mc and ea was the first to do well at least to my knowledge.. with them hosting the servers for the game..

Get cooling devices for the 360!!!!!

IT RUNS HOT!

I have a laptop cooler (2 fans) under the 360
1 fan on the side of the 360 (opposite side of the hd)
3 fans on the back of the 360 to suck heat out.
(i know i might be over doing it... but my 360 runs cool :) so im happy)


The backfans use the 360 power supply and cut on/off with the system.
the side fan is usb and has a switch
the laptop fans on bottom i plug in each time with usb.

Of course i use the laptop for my laptop as well. but if im be playing for a while ill throw it under the 360 for extra cooling.

its loud but i love that thing.... well worth the price if you ask me to protect the 360. You wouldnt run a computer hot, so why run a 360 hot.

DaNight, there are a lot of problems with that Nyko Intercooler, you might want to check a different cooling solution. I've been reading up on this stuff since I impulse bought a 360 the other day, and there are some horror stories:

Game World Industries contacted a couple different Microsoft customer service representatives to talk about the issue, both reps stated that the Intercooler causes problems for the Xbox 360. The first representatives stated that Nyko?s Intercooler drains too much power from the Xbox 360, which was manufactured with enough power to support only itself. The Intercooler drains a large amount of power when the console starts up, which causes certain components to not get the power they need to run correctly, which can then lead to the death of the console. The second rep stated that they had seen ?scorch marks? on the console from the Intercooler - probably just dust. If you send in your Xbox 360 and these scorch marks are present, Microsoft will send you your console back untouched (The Intercooler is not a licensed Microsoft product). They did, however, recommend switching to Pelican?s fan stand, which connects to the console via USB.

When Aaron, from Gaming World Industries, bought the Intercooler himself to test out the product, it only worked for 2 months before it killed his Xbox 360. He called Nyko for an explanation, it stated that like most products on the market, the Intercooler has a small defect rate and is a reliable product. Now, no one really knows who to blame. Is Microsoft using the Nyko?s Intercooler as a scapegoat? Or is Nyko essentially responsible for Xbox 360 deaths? Perhaps, with the rise of the Wii, the point will be moot.

There are a couple of laptop cooling pads out there that I am looking into for when my 360 gets here. I thought about getting the Pelican stand, but it only works if the 360 is upright, and I have a cat that likes to knock things over. :twisted:

yeah i read that as well but that was when they first came out. But from other articles i had read (sorry dont have links) the intercooler is fine now. Ive had mine for probably about 2 months and it does cool alot better than the side fan.

I have the fan stand as well. I used a dremel on it and cut off a side so it could use it sideways instead of standing the 360 up.

I also have a laptop cooler as well :) but i only use that if i plan to play for a long time straight.

Read more recent revies on the intercooler and you should see its probably the best fan out there.

360 should be here around lunch, I'm trying very hard not to take the afternoon off, but my resolve is slipping.

But i love my fans... and i tell everyone with a 360 its the best thing ive ever bought. You can really feel a difference in temps.

When the fan stand wasnt making much of a difference thats when i went and got the inter cooler.

How ever my gametag is locked so i can never get gold again on that gamer tag. So i had to start all over, but currently only play offline anyways.

I could use my old gamertag with silver, but if i wanna get gold i had to start over. So i figured now was as good as time as any.

By the way TD Microsoft is adding a extra heat sink into 360s the break down and get sent in. I thought it was interesting story. I wonder if they gave me one when i sent mine in a few months back.

I have only played online once (a few rounds of Gears) and was disappointed in how the tactical use of cover and terrain in the singleplayer game was replaced by run, roll, shotgun-to-the-face in the multiplayer. Is it possible to turn certain weapons off? If I wanted to play instagib I'd be playing UT.

well they probably raised the suspension way back and i didnt notice. Last time i talked to them they said it will take a few days and someone will call me. They also said i would be credited for a month on live service for the early termination. Well i either wasnt home or didnt get the call and I didnt think much about it.
But i got 100 ms points, a new headset, joust (xbla dl) and 3 months gold for like 25 bux at ebgames :)

Finally picked up a 360 (one of the newer Premium ones with HDMI and a BenQ drive :2thumbs:). So far the only game I have is Crackdown (which is a lot of fun), but more games will come I'm sure....at least till Halo 3 :D

anyways carbon what games did ya get so far? shadowrun is sweet. prabably my favorite right now. its alot different than anything out witch is the best part. gears, cod, halo, and vegas all seem to play the same to me just different time frame and guns, and some have vehicles. there still good but you go from to the other and all you have to do is remember the buttons and its the same game.

Lame match making?

Halo 3 is great online. If you replayed a certain map, it was only chance. Depending on the game type, match making will randomly choose from an assortment of maps every time.

I just got the package deal for all 3 red dead redemption packs for 1600 points, they are 800 each.
The first 2 add some fun new maps to multiplayer, and a new mode or two. Also, they have new sets of single player challenges, and of course, achievements.
Oh, you can play poker and liars dice online. It gets pretty funny when you are playing with a party.
The third one, undead nightmares, is probably one of the best download packs ever. There is a whole new sp campaign, that is actually decently long, and has a really awesome story. funny, intense, it was all around good. And the new zombie survival mode for mp is very fun also.
I recommend all of these downloads, they are really fun.

My favorite so far, too. Decent storyline and most of the cheesy multiplayer crap like quickscoping and dolphin diving has been removed. Plus the maps aren't terribly sniper-friendly, which is a hugely positive change...I'm level 30-something and I think I've been sniped maybe 3 times. In MW1 and 2 I'd get sniped more than that in 2 minutes.

Tried some online splitscreen with my roommate, it does horrible things to my K/D ratio, but I'm trying to bring him into the fold of real gaming and get him away from his freaking Wii (BTW tried the new Goldeneye, it's like a kiddie version of CoD).

I love the Zombie mode, although as soon as the hellhounds show up I freak out and die lol.
