Why did you get the game on steam?
Steam has some problems and their no real point in buying it in their client and if they screw up like EA does like they did with Battlefield 2142 and your gona have to be re-instaling all the time for patching, key packet crap, ect, your gona have to download it over and over and over again.
To the rest IMO its best to get hardcopy. :2thumbs:

Fortunately Steam is nothing like that piece of crap EA passes off as a p2p. Steam has been refined for several years and now works very reliably. This from a guy that used to think Steam was Satan's spawn.

Steam automatically updates games. I have many games on Steam and prefer it. If I am on another computer I can log into Steam, download a game and play on my account. no discs to lug around.

I'm beginning to like Steam. It's reliable, and it's quick. It saves me a drive down to Best Buy and about $10 on in-store taxes. Plus, it's great when you decide that you can't wait until the next morning to go buy something. :D

I have been using steam for years.... This is my second account that I created a few years ago after I built my current rig. I gave my old account to a buddy of mine cause he wanted to play CS so when I rebuilt I just bought a new one.
Steam is the most stable and is absolutely the best gaming program I have ever used. I have never had a problem with Steam what so ever.
You will never lose your games on Steam. Steam automatically patches stuff for you unlike EA. If you have key packet problems then I think you have some issues cause I have never ever had key packet loss with steam. The only time I ever have to re download something is when I reformat or mess up my config files which is of my own doing.
Hardcopy.... have fun finding your discs... Oh dang... your BF2 disc is in your comp and you have to swap, what a PITA.
Nothing personal but...
STEAM FTW !!
I think many many people will vouch for steam.

I'll echo most everyone's assessment here: Steam is head and shoulders above the other Digital Distribution programs out at the moment.
Why did I buy it on steam?
Don't ever have to fiddle with disks in the drive or worry about scratched lost media.
Installation is much faster from a game archive than from a DVD.
Autoupdates, as many have mentioned already.
Easy to purchase, and you can usually get stuff on sale if you buy it early.
Like having a repository where I can easily launch all (most) of my games from.
Sleekest and least-obtrusive DRM scheme on the market (short of no DRM at all). Also allows you to play from any computer, and allows you to have copies of your games on as many computers as you wish (just can only run one at a time).
After a rough start, Steam community is actually pretty decent (if a bit spartan in its features)
Shall I go on? :2thumbs:
I guess it's not for everyone, but then again, I've never been one that gets emotionally tied to box art/special editions/collectibles, so not having any of that is no skin off my back.

Ok, because here, Steam is asking for $69.95, which I think is BEYOND bogus. That's obscene, that is ?47.62. I would love to know the rationale there.

tip: you know you can pick up other weapons right. Ditch the pistol when ever you can and grab another good gun to avoid ammo issues. At rank 40 you can choose 2 main weapons but being able to drop the pistol is cool. I usually try and get a machine gun and a sniper rifle.

I think on the PC version you have to have the juggernaut perk active to do that.......I may be wrong, but when I tried that last night I could not carry 2 mains

hummm that would stink. Might be worth testing to see if it can or can not be done. I would think they would leave that option in the pc version. The first person i kill i normally steal there weapon if no one else is around and thats without the perk. mainly because i hate the pistols. If you can swap main weapons with a weapon on the ground i would think you can swap the pistol for another main as well. If someone tests this please let us know. I dont wanna give bad tips :) have everyone running around with pistols trying to pick something off the ground.
For bf2 players... here is a weapon you will love. The P90 :D if you see this on the ground (if you can pick it up) try, its a blast to use. In bf2 they nerfed it but here its a really fun gun. Unlocked at 38 or 40 if i recall.

It would have been faster (and cheaper! I forgot I still have a gift card) to have gone to best buy and just bought the game, but it finished pretty late last night. By the time I got around the punkbuster problem (took about another hour) the server was completely empty. Logged on a little to another server I found with a bunch of people and more or less figured out the controls and made lance corp. NO teamwork on that server at all though, just people lobbing nades and bullets everywhere.
The punkbuster problem I was having was punkbuster saying it could not communicate with it's server and so it was kicking me. Naturally I figure there's some problem with my modem (has a NAT built in) or my router, or my firewall or whatnot, but as it turns out, punkbuster just doesn't install all the files it needs. Digging through one FAQ on their website, I found the error message, which referred me to another FAQ, which eventually led me to have to download and run another punkbuster program in order to allow punkbuster to work properly. Why this can't just be included to begin with I dunno :?
For what its worth, I also saw (in the couple lines of google search previews when searching for answers) that there is already a wallhack out, but it apparently does not give clean punkbuster screenshots, just blacked out ones. So if anyone checks punkbuster screenshots and they're blacked out, ban the losers :slap:

The FIRST thing I do is exchange my pistol for either a sniper rifle or

I run through ammo WAY too quick on my M4. I'm much better at

Here is the magic ut2k4 had. Being able to shoot friends or play together in fast paced fast rounds of action. I know the lair is always been and always will be about being "BIG" player counts. But the magic is when everyone knows everyone and every time you play your playing with friends. It also helps the cod4 is a very fun game just to jump into to. Fun for the first timer or person who has been playing since it beta.

COD4 is a lot of fun... I just got my last M4 unlock lastnight. The only thing I really dislike about this game is the damage rate given for .45... I popped 7 rounds into Pigworthy lastnight just so he could run away like a little girl. :D
The Deagle is a lot of fun... I haven't unlocked it yet but I have picked it up a few times and that thing has some punch compared to the rest of the pistols.
