GeForce 8800GTS 512MB
* G92 core chip
* 128 SP
* Core clock 650 MHz, the SP clock 1625 MHz
* 256 bit memory interface
* GDDR3 memory clock 970 MHz (effective clock 1940 MHz)
* The new version of a black double-slot fan (non-fans of the original GTS)
* Price 299 to 349 dollars
It will have 32 TMU units and most likely 24 ROP's (if that one set ain't disabled for some reason). In that case this card would have 6,2% higher texel & pixel fillrate compared to 8800 Ultra. ALU-performance would be 8,3% higher than in 8800 Ultra
----
Compared to 8800 GT this cards texel fillrate is 23,8% higher, pixel filrate 62,5% higher. ALU-performance would also increase 23,8%

So that means vendors will be selling the card for $375 and $425 respectively lol.
Is this card supposed to come out in Dec?

Nice. I hope all this activity with he G92 leads to a nice mobile chip as well as a drop in the older GTS cards.
Edit: Iguess I should have checked all my news feeds before I posted.

There's a rumored date of Dec 2nd. But Nvidia don't let much out of the bag these days.

So, for those of us who don't quite get what those numbers mean, can anyone give a guess as to how this will actually perform to a current, say, 8800GTS 640mb? :?

I always wondered why I could not find a laptop with a 8800 graphics card...
Is that price for the GTS a reasonable price?

I like those translucent coolers on the new ATI cards, I'd wish they'd adopt something like that.

I don't care what mine looks like as long as it performs good. :D

So will this new GTS card be better than the 8800 Ultra?

There's no saying really. But if the 8800GT and the new GTS' paper stats are anything to go by it'll be very close indeed.

I just don't get it, with the prices and performance so similar why even bother releasing a updated GTS? Doesn't make any sense to me. If the GTS was updated to a GIG of memory we might have something.

1GB of RAM is proving completely useless right now (See the Ati 2900 range). What makes these cards so appealing is the price/performance, and for Nvidia, keeping one step ahead of Ati. The performance should be more than 10%.
