well its missing or gone or something
windows xp home, dell e1505
i cannot download acrobat or really any new software/games/anything on my computer.
sometimes it says there is something wrong with windows installer or i might be running in safemode
othertimes it says windows installer cannot load properly
or it says cannot find windows installer
my machine needs a clean whipe but i dont have a backup windows disk (thanks dell) and the program that is "built in" is not on my system
is there some free program i can run to do any of this either wiping it back to windows or fixing the installer

You need the MSI installer patch from support.microsoft.com. If that doesn't work you might have to reinstall, I did when i had this same problem however it was on XP x64.
Here is a link to the latest version of the installer hope it helps:

I had a similar problem like this a few months back. Something happened to my powerdvd install and when i came to uninstall it, it wouldn't let me, due to a MSI installer error. I got around it by installing over the problem files and then uninstalling.
This seems slightly different though. Will sleep on it.
Edit: Might be useful. :)

i'll see if I can't find the correct folder that installer is stored in and copy the files over to a host so you can download them, and then you can simply copy it over...
