Wait what?
But none of that will happen until after the bill becomes law. Even critics of the earmarks system acknowledge that specifying projects upfront offers some measure of transparency.
"We hate earmarks, but at least it's a way of tracking where influence is had," said Keith Ashdown of the watchdog group Taxpayers for Common Sense. "There is a challenge now that projects will be added behind closed doors without a paper trail."
Indeed, some lawmakers hearing from local groups say they're doing their own lobbying of governors and state and local officials who could have say-so over the funds.
So they're trying to pass a bill to stop this and you guy's still complain... WTF so now (or soon) it's not done at the local level buyt, at the state level where the federal gov is not in control but, YOUR GOVERNOR. Honestly people.

The point is that the law isn't going to stop this but to you average Obama voter he is a hero that has just solved the problem.

Oh so now you have the chance to impeach or elect those STATE officials who won't do that. I'm sorry I'm not praising Obama outta my a$$ about this but, it does seem like some progress?

Forget this crud. I mean we tried to get this through during the Bush administration twice, and Dems voted it down.
Now Obama is in office, and they are trying to be hero's?
Talk about solving a problem in a way that is advantageous to your position....
All I want is to have each bill of funding to have a singular purpose and for that purpose to be clear. I mean, I dont go out to eat and see "Tatoo Parlor and Sushi Bar" and believe that it would be a great place and a good deal.
The way we do funding should be no different.
These politicians dont get it. We dont care about how happy you are to be helpful in solving a problem we have nearly solved twice now. We dont want your goddamned ear marks at all.
